The difficulty appears when there is a dispute: if someone uses your work without permission and challenges your claim, you must prove when you created it. Plagiarism, contractual disputes with clients and theft of digital content all require reliable evidence of authorship with an exact date.

Traditional methods have serious limitations. A notarial deposit costs money, requires physical presence and is impractical for digital files or frequent updates. The registration of contracts and works is intended for specific legal acts rather than as proof of authorship over a creative digital file. None of these methods is designed for the modern way of working: fast, digital and version-based.
